New fused silica processing plant in Tianjin

TIANJ1N MEINUO Minerals Co. Ltd has just completed commissioning of its new fused silica processing plant in Tanggu, Tianjin, China. The new plant is expected to be running at around 4,000 tpa, and the design production capacity is 10,000 tpa. Colin Sewell, managing director at Tianjin Meinuo told IM: "A lot will depend upon product mix as to how high we can drive this figure upwards. The Chinese market is gearing up with the arrival of a number of Western producers of the ceramic products. We are here for the long haul." The plant is supplied by fused silica feedstock sourced under contract from Jiangsu province. Size gradings from minus 5mm down to 200 mesh can be produced, but the facility has been designed to handle more sophisticated gradings such as 20x50;50xl 00; 100x200 mesh ASTM and variants in between. The plant hosts a new sieve machine purchased from Germany.
