EC permits Nordkalk acquisition

The European Commission has given permission for Finland-based lift and escalator producer Kone Corp. to sell the Nordkalk Corp. unit of its subsidiary, Partek Corp., to NK-Holding Oy Ab. Nordkalk is the largest producer of limestone-based products in northern Europe, with activities in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia. Late last year, NK-Holding acquired 100 percent of the shares in Nordkalk from Partek, which is part of Kone Corp. the value of the deal was 270m euros. (290m dollars.) but Kone will only receive around 140m euros. (150m dollars.) as Nordkalk's ongoing bond issue and debt were not included in the price.
