For a long time China has utilized kaolin, and the term "kaolin" is derived from the town "Kau-ling," near the city of Jingdezhen, in Jiangxi province. This features reviews the major producers of refined kaolin in China, and although the major market is ceramics, there are signs that the paper market is rapidly developing.Kaolin deposits are widely distributed throughout China, although the majority of deposits are situated n the provinces of Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hunan, Sanxi and Neimeng. The proven reserves of some 200 deposits are approximately 300m. tonnes.
