Zircon in ceramics A price perspective

Ceramic grade zircon sand has a rollercoaster pricing pattern. For the last couple of years however, prices have been on the rise, spurred on largely by a gradual tightening of supply. Improvements in the ceramics markets following the economic downturn of 1997 raised industry hopes, but the effect on raw material pricing has been limited. The ceramics industry is once again having a tough time, and a capacity glut in the zircon milling sector, in combination with a number of other factors, is keeping the pressure on opacifier prices.
