A Reassignment Method for Improved Readability of Time-Frequency Representations

A simple but efficient method to improve read- ability of discretepseudo time-frequency representations (TFRs) of nonstationary signalsby the reassignment of the representa- tions in discrete frequencydimension is presented. The method does not rely on the nonzero timederivative of the window func- tion employed in the estimation ofpseudo TFR. This property of the reassignment method is advantageousbecause the method can provide an improved readability in thesituation when a known reassignment method is unefficient.
