The World of Separation Science CEC '98': more questions than answers; life-enhancing applications replace 'killers'

CAPILLARY electrochromatography is beginning the long development cycle from the exciting curiosity of two years ago to becoming a powerful technique in chemical analysis. The Second International Symposium on Capillary Electrochromatography (CEC '98) was held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, CA, August 24-25, 1998. Judging by the corresponding development of GC, HPLC, and high-performance capillary electrophoresis (HPCE), it will be about three more years before the foundations of CEC can be firm enough to support general acceptance and use in routine applications.
