Highlights from CE Pharm '06

Over the last eight annual meetings, the CE Pharm series has been a forum for discussing practical aspects of capillary electrophoresis, particularly in the biotech and pharmaceutical laboratories. The 8th Symposium on the Practical Applications for the Analysis of Proteins, Nucleotides, and Small Molecules (CE Pharm '06) was held in the Hyatt Hotel in Jersey City, NJ, October 2-6, 2006. This report will focus on applications of capillary electrophoresis (CE) technology, implemented with either fused-silica capillaries or in chips utilizing microfluid-ics technology. A separate review by Dr. Robert Weinberger in American Laboratory News focuses on small-molecule separations including chiral, antibiotics, forensics, and small-molecule drugs (Am. Lab. News 2007, 39[4], 20-26). A collection of peer-reviewed papers presented at the meeting is scheduled for publication in 2007 as a special issue of Chromatographia.
