A cell line that loses productivity compromises important projects, products, and/or collaborations. Reliable and cost-effective ascites production provides an organization with a clear, competitive advantage. Optimizing the hybridoma cell lines used for ascites production is an important part of monoclonal antibody production. Increasing cell line stability and productivity can potentially decrease the cost of antibody production significantly. The quantity and quality of ascites produced from an individual cell line can be affected by various production parameters such as mouse strain, gender, cell inoculum density, pristane volume, priming agent, length of priming, and harvesting procedure.
