Agriculture has been a major occupation since civilisation. Nearly 90 per cent of the food requirements comes from land based farming. However there is an increasing concern about the environmental pollution and change in the ecosystem which is in the long run would reduce productivity of our crop fields. Moreover at the global level there are predictions about the catastrophy hanging over the heads of humanity through continued rise in carbon dioxide concentration and atmospheric temperature.
