摘要

The use of fluorescent or radioactive molecular labels in drug discovery assays has been a widely deployed technique that has provided several advantages for many years. However, as the path of discovery shifts toward more novel targets, some of the important disadvantages of molecular labels have become increasingly more relevant. In particular, labels can have adverse effects on the binding interactions being investigated, leading to false or misleading conclusions about binding properties of the analyte. Labels also introduce additional complexity and assay development time to the process.
