It is imperative for clinicians and academicians to stay abreast of new technology and trends related to diagnostic assays and instrumentation methodologies. Recently, new capillary elec-trophoresis (CE) technology has enabled unlimited menu expansiondue to a gradient technology that allows protein detection at wavelengths ranging from 200 to 600 nm. This broad range of protein detection allows for vast assay menu expansion. CAPILLARYS 2 (Sebia Electrophoresis, Norcross, GA) offers a menu of traditional and innovative assays including Proteins (with no lipid interferences), Immunotyping (a patented, fully automated alternative to immunofixation testing) , High Resolution Protein (for the study of inflammatory diseases), and Hemoglobin.
