摘要

Sulphur is essential for growth and productivity of tea plant (Bhat and Ranganathan, 1981). Like nitrogen, it also plays a major role in the formation of protein and vitamins. Photosynthesis and carbohydrate metabolism is adversely affected when thiselement is deficient. Sulphur is a constituent of some amino acids. Sulphur is closely associated with nitrogen in the processes of protein and enzyme synthesis and also regulates the activities of many protein enzymes and nitrogen fixation. The tea plant takes up sulphur from the soil in sulphate form.
