摘要

A new standard method for life cycle assessment of greenhouse gas emissions of goods and services was tested for a range of manufactured food products and the agricultural production of their ingredients. Greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural production were 50% of total life cycle emissions for beef cottage pie, and were large percentages of emissions for production and manufacture of bread and cheese. The percentage of non-CO2 emissions from livestock, manure or soils, was large for each commodity. The interpretation of assessment results to determine strategies to decrease emissions is discussed.
