Healthcare reform is right around the corner, and there are still many unanswered questions. There are 30 Republican states and 26 Republican-controlled legislatures that are very serious about implementing the Affordable Care Act. What is about to happen, and what position will they take? Many states have rejected Medicaid expansion (higher incomes becoming eligible for free or subsidized care). However, they don't want to undermine people "needing" coverage. Will they change their positions? Most states are asking for more direction on "essential benefits and exchanges," and the Department of Health and Human Services has not responded. Will potential future delays occur?
