Development and evaluation of ISO 19932 for safer and more effective use of knapsack sprayers world wide

Knapsack sprayers are the main technique for the application of crop protection products in many Asian and African countries and also in Europe they are of a certain importance for horticulture and gardening. Since knapsack sprayers are that kind of equipment which has the biggest potential for the operator of pesticide contamination, a high technical standard is essential. On the other hand, the performance of knapsack sprayers is often limited due to economical reasons. A standardisation project was established by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) to define minimum requirements on and corresponding test procedures for knapsack sprayers. This project is almost finished and first tests according to the new standard reveal thetechnical suitability of test methods and requirements as well as the potential of further knapsack sprayer improvement.
