The RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight had a very successful year in 2015 with commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Now it is busy preparing for the 2016 season with a new officer commanding in place. Sqn Ldr Dune Mason completed his three-year tour as OC BBMF and handed over command to Sqn Ldr Andy 'Milli' Millikin on 25 October 2015. In accordance with standard BBMF operating procedures, the new 'boss' is no stranger to either the team or flying its fleet, as the OC-elect always spends at least three years as a volunteer BBMF pilot in order to gain the experience necessary for future command. Dune Mason accordingly flew a total of seven years with the BBMF between 2008 and 2015. 'Milli' has already completed four years with the flight, doing so in his spare time while employed in a full-time role with the Typhoon Mission Support Centre at Coningsby and continuing to instruct and hold quick reaction alert duties on the type. He was selected to be a future OC BBMF in 2011 and has since been going through the work-ups in order to take over full-time for the 2016 season.
