Effect of multi nozzle fans on droplet size distribution and droplet velocity

Using a Lechler VarioSelect nozzle body with four ID120-01 nozzles the effect of multi fan sprays on the relative amount of droplets smaller than 100 mu m is evaluated. Spray drift of field sprayers is strongly related to this fraction of droplets. Measurements with a VarioSelect with one, two three or four nozzles spraying were performed. Measurements were done of the droplet sizes and droplet velocity in the spray fan. It was found that a large fraction of the small droplets (droplets smaller and equal to 100 mu m) disappears in multi fan sprays causing a relative reduction of small droplets in the spray.
