The Intelligent Sprayer Boom - a new generation of sprayers.

Environmental concerns in connection with the use of pesticides has increased the need for the development of new technologies. A research prototype was developed in the project "Cell spraying of weeds in maize". This prototype is a sensorbased weed application system, that only apply herbicides in areas where weeds are present. The system was only investigated under laboratory and semi-field conditions. A new project has been initiated in the autumn of 2009 with the aim to develop an advanced system validated under field conditions and with a capacity comparable to existing conventional technology. The new project is titled "The Intelligent Sprayer Boom" and is briefly described in the paper.
