AbstractThe importance of typical modifications of the Bray no. 1 procedure for the determination of “available” soil phosphorus was assessed using soil samples from Rwanda. Variations in shaking time (1 or 5 min.), soil to extraction solution ratio (1:7 or 1:10), and soil sieve size (2 mm vs. 0.5 mm) were found to significantly affect available P values.
