摘要

Besides weed flora infesting the crop, weed population and period of infestation are important factors, which determine the weed-crop competition. The problem of weeds in sugarcane is acute on account of its wide spacing, slow germination and initialgrowth, slow lateral spread, long crop duration, adequate supply of nutrients and moisture and diverse nature of weeds infesting the crop (Lall, 1977; Rao et al., 1987). However, there are several methods of controlling the weeds in sugarcane such as mechanical, chemical and trash mulching (Mann and Chakor, 1989). Thus, the present investigation was undertaken to find out the effect of various weed control methods in relation to nutrient (nitrogen) supply on growth of weeds, yield and quality of canesin spring planted sugarcane.
