摘要

Sternum of tiger was a plate of osteocartilagenous structure placed at midline of the thoracic cavity. It formed the floor of the bony thorax and was made up of eight sternebrae. These sternebrae were not fused. The nine pairs of costal cartilages were joined to the sternum. It was slightly turned up in front and turned down behind. The consecutive sternebrae were joined by short blocks of cartilage, the intersternebral cartilages. The first and last sternebrae were specialized. In dorsoventral view of radiograph of sternum, the sternebrae appeared as rectangular pieces of bones. The first sternebra was largest with manubrium.
