Nodular Scleritis, an Ophthalmic presentation of Tuberculosis A Case Report

Mycobacterium tuberculosis can cause a wide range of clinical manifestations in the body including involvement of ocular tissues. It can affect eyelid, lacrimal system, conjunctiva, cornea, sclera as well as posterior segment of eye. The involvement ranges from phlyctenular conjunctivitis to severe chorioretinitis that may cause optic atrophy leading to loss of vision. Ocular tuberculosis may be either due to invasion of ocular tissue by the living organism or more commonly due to allergic reaction in eyes with previous sensitization by tubercular infection.
