Logistics is big business. A staggering pound;40 billion is being spent this year by industry and commerce on logistics of all types throughout the European Union, according to London-based market analyst Datamonitor. Germany industry as a whole is by far the largest European customer for logistics, accounting for 27.8 per cent of the market. France is the second biggest user with 19.9 per cent, followed by the UK with 17.4 per cent. The automotive sector has considered itself something of leader in the logistics boom over the past decade as it has striven to lower overheads, minimise inventories and time inbound deliveries and distribution with increasing accuracy.
