The system of phenylfluorone - fibrous sorbent filled with AV-17 anion exchanger is studied and a test method for visual determination of molybdenum is proposed. Mo(VI) is sorbed from a solution of ascorbic acid on a solid phase and detected using a solution of phenylfluorone in 0.5 M HCl. Determination of Mo(VI) is done using a color scale from orange to crimson with a concentration range of 0.025-0.4 μg/ml. The test method is used to analyze river water and tap water. The detection limit for molybdenum is 0.02 mg/liter. The relative error does not exceed 25%. The time of analysis is 10 mm.
