An automated system for detailed gas-chromatographic analysis of hydrocarbons and quality indices of gaso-lines is described. Based on results of a single gas-chromatographic measurement of a gasoline sample (total analysis time ~70 min), a number of important gasoline characteristics can be determined such as the individual and group hydrocarbon composition (in accordance with ASTM 5134), concentration of aromatic components (GOST 6994, ASTM 5580), concentration of unsaturated hydrocarbons (GOST 8997, GOST 2070), fractional composition (GOST 2177, ASTM D86), antiknock rating by the Research method (GOST 8226, ASTM 2699) and the Motor method (GOST 511, ASTM 2700), saturated-vapor density (GO ST 1756, GOST 2889), and density (GOST 3900, ASTM 4052.3900). High performance characteristics are confirmed for the system by its successful use at the Mozyr Petroleum Refinery and the Forensic and Crime-Investigation Center (FCIC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. The method has been certified by the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus (MVI. MN 998-99).
