摘要

An investigation of a group of psychiatrically normal elderly people living in their own homes confirmed that some have difficulty in understanding a number of items of the Maudaley Personality Inventory. The findings were that there was no significant difference between those who had difficulty in understanding the inventory and those who answered the inventory without difficulty in age, scores on Raven's Coloured Progressive Matrices and on a Memory and Information Test. There was, however, a significant difference between the two groups in their performances on the Mill Hill Vocabulary Test (Abbreviated).A second investigation of a similarly selected group of elderly people using a modified version of the Maudsley Personality Inventory (see text) was understood by all subjects, but difficulty in answering the items relating to Extravenion/Introversion was still experienced by some.
