Haemato-biochemical profile of canine ascites

Of 45 dogs of different breeds and age, 15 (33%) dogs were suffering from ascites. Tha affected dogs revealed low levels of Hb (9.48±0.30 g/dl), PCV (34.50±1.26 %) and total serum protein level (4.31±0.20 g/dl) while BUN and creatinine were withinthe normal limits. An increased activity of ALT (228.53±22.174 IU/1) was recorded. Ultrasonographic investigation revealed enlargement of liver in all the dogs suffering from ascites.
