Facial paralysis may be unilateral or bilateral and either central or peripheral in origin (Frank, 1976). Peripheral paralysis of the buccal branches is most common and occurs frequently in horses (Hofmeyr, 1974). Unilateral facial nerve paralysis has been reported in adult cattle (Krishnappa et al., 2002 and Mouli, 2001). The present report puts on record a case of congenital unilateral facial nerve paralysis in a calf.
