Effect of season on some blood biochemical parameters of crossbred goats under two managemental systems

Marked changes occur in different constituents of blood due to various environmental factors. Some work has been done on the blood biochemical parameters in Indian goats (Bhattacharya et al., 1994; Parwe et al., 1990) but factors such as season, environment and management were not considered. The present study records the effect of season and managemental practices on some blood biochemical parameters in the crossbred goats. Total 24 adult cross bred goats (Assam local x Beetal) were randomly selected and divided into two equal groups. Gr I consisted of 6 male and 6 females from Goat Research Station, Burnihat and were maintained under semi-intensive farming condition. Gr II also consisted of 6 male and 6 females from Khanapara campus of Assam Agricultural University and were maintained under free grazing system. All the goats were negative for parasitic diseases and maintained in normal physiological state. The male and female goats were kept separately in sheds during the period of observations.
