Tick infestation is of great significance in relation to diseases in animals as these are the vectors of many protozoan, bacterial, viral and rickettsial diseases. Among protozoan diseases, babesiosis is one of the major problems of the livestock industry and there is a variation in susceptibility to Babesia infection according to age and season in cattle. Mostly, it is recorded in young animals (Radostits et al., 2000). A case of babesiosis in crossbred mithun in Arunachal Pradesh was reported by Das et al. (1999).
