Serum enzyme activities as prognostic indicators in downer syndrome in cows

Downer syndrome is generally associated with deficiency of calcium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium, toxaemia, septicaemia and number of other factor (Andrews et al., 1992). The prolonged recumbency in downer cows damages the muscles and nerves (Wadhwa et al., 1991) which can be detected by serum enzyme profile. The present paper reports the pressure damage in downer cows by monitoring serum enzymes.
