摘要

Pure iron with carbon content less than 0.002 by weight, when quenched from the γ-region and then stretched or rolled at room temperature, shows no microscopically detectable changes in its metallographic structure at annealing temperatures below 500° C. Polygonization is observed at higher annealing temperatures and low degrees of deformation, recrystallization only at higher degrees of deformation. If the same iron in the recrystallized state is subjected to low tensile stress and annealed near A3, it recrystallizes with formation of coarse grains or large monocrystalline regions. Taking an iron containing 0.004 C by weight but otherwise of comparable purity, coarse grains or monocrystals are obtained at low tensile stress from both initial textures.
