This dedicated issue of Shore Beach compiles scientific results of research and case studies that document the effectiveness and storm protection value of coastal restoration projects. Beaches are one of the nation's most valuable recreational resources. In fact, many of the nation's best-known beaches are nourished — Cape May and Ocean City, NJ; Hilton Head, and Myrtle Beach NC; Miami Beach and Panama City Beach, FL; Huntington Beach, CA; Waikiki Beach, HI; and many others.
