Cataract is defined as any opacity in the lens or its capsule. It is one of the most common causes of blindness and a major community health problem. Around 62.6% of blindness in India is due to cataract. The conventional method of ECCE with PCIOL has got some limitations. SICS or manual phako has the advantages of phacoemulsification with reasonable cost.
