A Study of Causative Factors, Clinical Profile and Outcome of Electric Burn Patients Hospitalised in a Rural Teaching Hospital

16 patients with major electrical burn were analyzed regarding causative factors , clinical profile and outcome during a two and half year period . 15(93.75%) were male, 1 (6.25%) was female. Most of the patients were around the age of 20 years, and with minimum formal education, without awareness about electrical current injuries . 8(50%) patients underwent fasciotomy, 6(39%) patients underwent amputation of limbs. One patient with electrical burn of right upper limb and anterior abdominal wall at right iliac fossa underwent laparotomy for ileal perforation developed on 3rd day of injuries. Two patients with extensive burn were died .
