Evaluation of Fluchloralin, Oxadiazon and Pendimethalin Residues in Onion (Allium cepa L.)

Fluchloralin, oxadiazon and pendimethalin are proved to be effective for the weed control in onion under different agro-eco systems. The applied herbicides may persist in soil and may leave residues in onion bulbs which need to be determined for safeconsumption. Lazic (1996) reported pendimethalin residues in young onion bulbs (0.239 mg kg~(-1)) and mature bulbs (0.113 mg ka~(-1)) Trisopoulos and Miliadas (1998) revealed that pendimethalin residues declined rapidly and the residues in onion bulbs were below MRL. Hence, the present study was taken up to evaluate the residues of fluchloralin, oxadiazon and pendimethalin in onion.
