Femur fractures are the most common long bone fractures reported in dogs (Balagopalan et al, 1995; Aithal and Singh, 1999). The impact of very high energy resulting from automobile injury results in trauma of varying intensity leading to multiple injuries. Such injuries can result in multiple fractures and bilateral femur fractures are not uncommon due to such devastating injuries. Successful repair and management of bilateral femur fracture is often difficult due to the fact that such dogs are recumbent and need early rehabilitation to establish speedy recovery.
