splenic rupture with its explants in abdominal viscera in a dog

摘要

A rare case of splenic rupture with its explants in different abdominal organs (splenosis) in a 14 years-old non-descript dog is reported. The deposits varied in size from 1-10 mm in diameter. Histologically, the deposits appeared like normal splenictissue. Rupture of the spleen is not an infrequent finding in the dog for reasons which must be evident in a world of automotive transportation. A considerable number of dogs so injured survive and the two or more healed fragments of the spleen are foundat necropsy years laterl. The present report describes a rare case of splenic rupture with its explants in different abdominal organs in a dog.
