Two macroscopically similar species of agarics with the unusual combination of corneous stipes and pigmented basal mycelium are the types of two new genera.Mythicomycesis typified byAgaricus corneipesFries, a species with roughened purplendash;brown basidiospores and brownish metuloidal hymenial cystidia.Stagnicolais typified byPhaeocollybia perplexaOrton, a species with smooth yellowish brown basidiospores and thin-walled cheilocystidia. Both types inhabit wet depressions in northern coniferous forests.
