Swine pox has been reported from different parts of the world (Olufemi et al, 1981) including India. It is a contagious viral disease characterized by fever and development of skin eruptions (Anthony and Lewis, 1961). In India, outbreak of swinepox have been reported by Tewari and Goyal (1974) and Manickam and Mohan (1987). In some outbreaks, the mortality rate in young suckling piglets may be heavy but older animals seem to suffer mildly (Manickam and Mohan, 1987). Outbreaks usually accompany infestation with the pig louse (Haematopinus suis). The present paper reports clinico-pathological changes and management of outbreak of swine pox.
