摘要

Jamun (Syzygium cumini Skeels) is one of the important but under-exploited indigenous fruit trees of India. It is native of Indian subcontinent with distribution throughout tropical and subtropical areas. Its cultivation extends from India to Malaysia in South-East Asian continent. It is a large, evergreen tree, producing dark purple delicate fruits with prominent seeds. As majority of jamun trees are of seedling origin, they show a tremendous variation in their morphology and physico-chemical traits among its population. The enormous variation is due to sexual propagation of tree and cross-pollination in flowers. Therefore, studies were conducted to find out variation in physico-chemical traits of some accessions identified from Goa region.
