Note on phosphorus requirement of french bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) varieties planted at different dates

French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an important leguminous vegetable crop grown round the year in hills for its tender green pods. Phosphorus nutrition is important, as it is needed by the plant as well as by the root-nodule bacteria (Rhizobium sp.). The beans develop poorly when grown in P-deficient soil and its low level leads to low bean productivity (Kanwar, 2). Study on the effect of phosphorus on different varieties grown during different seasons has not been reported. Hence, the present study was undertaken.
