Studies on heterosis and inbreeding depression in tropical cauliflower

In cauliflower (maturity group II), six crosses involving five parents were assessed to determine the magnitude of heterosis (Heterobeltiosis), inbreeding depression and combining ability. The hybrids Poosi x Pant Subhra and 12-C x Improved Japanese exhibited significant heterosis over better parent for most of the characters. 12-C x Improved Japanese showed significant inbreeding depression for all the characters. The Poosi (line) and Aghani (tester) were good general combiner for yield and its major component characters.
