摘要

The length, diameter and weight of fruit as well as pulp and seed weight of ten local ber geno-types grown in West Bengal were compared. The average weight of fruit varied from 8 to 17.68 g. The chemical constituents such as total soluble solids, total sugars, reducing sugar, non-reducing sugar, acidity and ascorbic acid contents also exhibited significant differences. The ranges of variation in total soluble solids, total sugars, reducing sugar, non-reducing sugar, acidity and ascorbic acid contentsof different ber types of were 9.53-19.13 per cent, 4.94-12.30 per cent, 2.14-4.99 per cent, 2.37-8.50 per cent, 0.38-2.60 per cent and 17.25-51.98 mg/100 g, respectively. The fruits in majority of geno-types could be stored upto 6th day with a considerable acceptable quality.
