A large number of improved varieties of tomato are being released from various research institutes which are used in development of hybrids. For development of hybrids, information on genetic diversity among parental lines is essential (Khanna and Mishra, 5; Balasch et al., 2). Tomato has become increasingly popular in midhills of Meghalaya as summer crop when it is not available in plains. However, there are no standard cultivars being recommended for this region except a few reports (Parthasarathyand Aswath, 7; Parthasarathy et al., 8). To study the performance of different lines and varieties of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L. and L. pimpinellifolium L.) and to classify these genotypes using multivariate analysis technique for selecting parents, this study was undertaken.
