Incidence of Cymbidium mosaic virus (CymMV) in Sikkim.

This study analysed the incidence of Cymbidium mosaic virus (CymMV) in orchids from Sikkim, India. One hundred plants comprising species and hybrids belonging to 24 orchid genera from Sikkim were screened for the presence of CymMV using ELISA, RT-PCR and Northern slot blot hybridization techniques. Results indicated the widespread occurrence of CymMV in the orchids tested. Orchid samples which were symptomless and gave negative result in ELISA were found to be positive in RT-PCR and Northern slot blot.
