In his latest interview with JEI, Mikio Katayama, President of Sharp Corp., has described the business direction of its LCD TV and LCD TV panel businesses in FY2009.JEI: How does your LCD TV business performed in the past fiscal year?Katayama: The sales volume of LCD TVs in the entire FY2008 increased 21 percent from the previous year to 10 million units. However, sales in terms of value decreased 10.4 percent on the year to ￥729.3 billion (US$7.3 billion) due to the impacts of exchange rates and fall in prices.
