BULBOPHYLLUM SERRATOTRUNCATUM SEIDENF. (ORCHIDACEAE) -A NEW RECORD FOR INDIA, FROM THE ANDAMAN ISLANDS

Bulbophyllum serratotruncatum Seidenf. is reported as a new record for India from the South Andaman Island. A brief description with illustrations is provided. During a field tour to the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park (MGMNP) as part of the floristic survey, a Bulbophyllum species was collected from the mangrove swamps of Alexandria Island. Later on it was identified as Bulbophyllum serratotruncatum Seidenf. belonging to the section Cirrhopetalum. Scrutiny of literature reveals that, it is hitherto unrecorded for India. Hence here it is reported as an addition to the orchid flora of India.
