Data Collection Without RFID Tags, Scanners

Skan-Free automated mobile data collection system uses image processing technology to read bar codes. By removing data collection tasks from forklift drivers, it eliminates the possibility of human error and improves facility productivity and safety. The system employs an Optical Label Reader (OLR) affixed to the front of a forklift (indicated by arrow in photo), typically mounted behind the backrest. The reader, or sensor, consists of a very small camera, an optical system, and an internal computer. Similar to handheld scanners, it reads a bar code symbol printed on the load label.
