摘要

Leaf rust caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks, is an important disease of wheat causing significant yield losses worldwide (9, 4). In most wheat growing areas, yield losses due to leaf rust vary from 7 to 50 per cent, depending upon varietal susceptibility, rate of disease development and duration of disease (1). In India, leaf rust is prevalent throughout the country. The best option for management of rust diseases is to grow resistant cultivars (5) and as the race-specific resistance is transitory,wheat cultivars often lose resistance due to mono-culture or changes in virulence pattern of pathogens to overcome the effects of deployed resistance genes. Therefore, an attempt was made to evaluate and identify the new molecules alternative to the existing chemicals (fungicides) against the leaf rust of wheat.
